Pre Season Training will Start Thursday 15th July 6.30 for 7pm

Mini Report Carrick

Academy under 8's had 13 kids turn up for their fixtures against Carrick and Coleraine.
We had 2  kids Daniel and Ben making their debuts for the club.

Our first game was  played against Carrick. The match started off badly for Academy  conceding a try immediately.  The team talk from the coaches of tackle tackle tackle  obviously falling on deaf ears.
Carrick had one very strong runner who scored again before Academy replied with scores   from Jack and Matthew.
Half time .Emphasis on tackle being said from the coaches.
Academy started to get their  tackles low and bring the carrick players down in defence .In attack passes were  being made out of the tackle. The game progressed well with Academy scoring 2 more try's, before Carrick scoring, again through their strong runner.
Over all a good start  in our first match.

Next was Coleraine.
This was a difficult game from the beginning.Coleraine were a big team with very strong runners. They had been well coached and it was 2-0 before Academy started to tackle. The half finished with academy conceding 2 further scores.

At the  half time  the coaches reminded the kids of how to tackle and pass the ball to their own players.

The kids responded well with more tackles being made by all the players  .Unfortunately Academy couldn't score and conceded 2 more scores before the end.

We played another Coleraine team after this.(Coleraine had 30 kids with them.)
The match started with Academy unable to tackle a very fast Coleraine player who was able to find space everytime he got the ball scoring a few times. The game started to change towards the end of the half with Academy starting to pass the ball out of the tackle and find space themselves.
The second half was much better for Academy  scoring try's through Jack and Nik.Tackling was starting to really come on with the coleraine coaches complimenting our team. The game finished with both teams playing excellent rugby.

Playing Coleraine worked  well, with our kids inproving their skills in attack and defence.

Remember Kids/parents we are training  on Saturday at Roughfort and playing at Bangor on Sunday.
