Academy Rugby Football Club

Saturday sees our Senior squad play their last friendly ahead of competitive rugby starting back at the end of the month. Director of Rugby, Gareth Lynn is travelling with a 30+ squad of youth and experience to take on the High School.

Angelo Marcia makes his debut in the pack whilst we welcome back Andrew Greer, Shaun O’Leary and Adam Beard from cricketing duties.

Stewart Martin leads the club as 1st XV Captain this season. Previewing the game at Greenisland he said, “Tomorrow presents a good opportunity for the 1st, 2nd and 3rds squad members to build on last week’s strong performance. Thanks to the High School for hosting the game at short notice. Special mention also to veteran Chris Cooper who makes a welcome return to the team for the first time since last seasons opening day defeat at Donaghadee. Having Coop back can only add quality and experience to our team.”

Given that we are playing in some peoples back garden a large Academy support is expected at ‘The Old Boys’. Kick off is 2.30pm with all support welcome.
